Songs and verses for the seasons that ask a lot of you

Ashryn is a quiet place to land. Music and poetry written through recovery, shared in the hope they make someone else's day a little more survivable — and a little more beautiful.

Our mission

Creativity as company on a difficult road

Ashryn began in a spare room, at a bad hour, with a guitar that had been in its case far too long. Craig started writing because it was the only thing that made the noise quieter — and kept writing because it turned out other people recognised themselves in it.

Everything here is made for that recognition: the relief of hearing your own unspoken thing said plainly, and kindly, by someone who has been there.

Rise Again

Written after a long winter of insomnia, this was the first song Craig finished in three years. It began as a note on a phone at 4am and became the anthem that gave Ashryn its name.

Where to next

"Hope is not the belief that it will be easy. It is the decision to stay in the room until the light changes."
